Rooted in
Wayanad's
Heritage

Founded in the lush coffee-growing heartland of Wayanad, Neelagiri Coffee Curing Works carries forward generations of cultivation knowledge. We partner with local farmers to deliver ethically sourced, sustainably farmed green coffee beans — processed with meticulous care at every step.

Every bean that passes through our facility is a product of the unique microclimate and volcanic soils of the Western Ghats — a terroir that cannot be replicated anywhere else on earth.

Sustainable Farming

Partnered with farms that respect the land and protect Western Ghats biodiversity.

Modern Machinery

State-of-the-art hulling, grading, sorting and optical colour-sorting equipment.

Quality Assured

Rigorous multi-stage quality control ensuring consistent, premium output.

Eight Steps to
Excellence

From the moment raw coffee arrives at our gates to the sealed bag ready for dispatch, every batch passes through eight precision-controlled stages — each one protecting quality, consistency and traceability.

Reception & Weighing

Incoming parchment or cherry coffee is received at our loading bay, weighed on certified scales and assigned a unique lot number. Every batch is logged with origin farm, date of receipt and initial moisture reading — establishing full traceability before a single bean enters the line.

Pre-Cleaning

Raw coffee is fed through a high-capacity pre-cleaner that combines air aspiration and vibrating screens to strip out large foreign matter — sticks, leaves, soil, sacking fibres and oversized debris. This first pass protects downstream machinery and ensures a clean feed into hulling.

Hulling

The dried parchment or outer husk is stripped from the green bean using precision-calibrated hulling machines. Hulling gap and drum speed are set per batch to minimise breakage and maximise clean-bean yield. Bean integrity at this stage is critical to final cup quality.

Polishing

After hulling, beans pass through a polishing drum that removes the thin silver skin remaining on the bean surface. Polished beans present a cleaner appearance, show truer colour during roasting, and have improved shelf stability compared to un-polished green coffee.

Destoning

A gravity-fed destoner uses differential airflow and vibration to separate dense foreign material — stones, metal fragments and heavy clay — that could survive earlier cleaning stages. This step is non-negotiable: a single stone entering a roasting drum can destroy equipment worth tens of thousands.

Grading & Sizing

Multi-deck vibrating screens separate beans by hole size while density tables sort simultaneously by weight. This dual classification produces each of our six commercial grades — AAA through C and Peaberry — each meeting precise screen-size and density specifications required by our buyers.

Colour Sorting

State-of-the-art optical colour-sorting machines scan every individual bean at high speed using multispectral cameras. Discoloured, black, spotted, insect-damaged or malformed beans are pneumatically ejected in milliseconds — delivering a final product with near-zero visible defects and exceptional cup cleanliness.

Bagging & Dispatch

Quality-approved beans are weighed to specification, placed in food-grade GrainPro moisture-barrier liners, and sealed inside jute or woven polypropylene sacks. Each bag is labelled with grade, lot number, net weight and origin before handover to domestic transport or export consolidation.
